Prescott's National Community Survey: Your Voice Matters!

The City of Prescott is taking a significant step towards understanding the needs and priorities of its residents by partnering with Polco for the National Community Survey (NCS). Kicking off on Monday, November 6, this initiative is more than just a survey; it's a chance for every resident to have their voice heard and play a role in shaping the city's future. By participating, residents can directly influence the city's strategic planning and budgeting, ensuring that their concerns and aspirations are at the forefront of decision-making. Don't miss this opportunity to be a part of Prescott's growth and development.

Surveys like the National Community Survey (NCS) play a pivotal role in holding local politicians accountable. By soliciting feedback directly from residents, these surveys provide a transparent and quantifiable measure of community sentiment on various issues. This data-driven approach ensures that elected officials are aware of the public's priorities, concerns, and aspirations. When the results are made public, politicians are compelled to address the highlighted issues, knowing that their actions (or inactions) are under scrutiny. Furthermore, the periodic nature of such surveys can track changes in public opinion over time, allowing constituents to assess whether elected representatives are delivering on their promises and making decisions in the best interest of the community. In essence, these surveys act as a powerful tool for civic engagement, promoting transparency and ensuring that local politicians remain answerable to those they serve.

Why is this Survey Important?

  1. Clear Priorities for Planning: The NCS is designed to gather insights that will help the city identify clear priorities. These insights will be instrumental in strategic planning and budget setting, ensuring that resources are allocated where they are needed most.

  2. Benefits of Community-Wide Polling: Engaging the entire community in such a survey ensures a diverse range of opinions and perspectives. This type of polling is beneficial as it:

    • Provides a comprehensive understanding of community needs.

    • Encourages civic participation and fosters a sense of community ownership.

    • Helps in making informed decisions that resonate with the majority.

  3. Positive Changes through Community Involvement: When residents actively participate in community initiatives, it leads to:

    • More transparent governance.

    • Policies and projects that reflect the community's true needs

    • Strengthened trust between the city administration and its residents.
